Traditional Straw Garden Workshop with Kristina Skei
Explore the symbolism and geometric forms of traditional Lithuanian straw gardens (sodai) through hands-on making while creating your own hanging ornament inspired by Baltic folk traditions.
6th or 13th June
1-3pm, booking required
Kristina Skei will guide participants in creating traditional Lithuanian straw gardens (delicate hanging ornaments known as sodai) exploring their cultural meaning and geometric structure.
Beginning with an introduction to their symbolism, including connections to time, nature, and balance, participants will learn how similar forms appear across Baltic and Eastern European traditions.
Exhibition
The programme will culminate in a public exhibition on 3rd and 4th July in Boston, bringing together the works created throughout the workshop series. The exhibition will showcase a range of participant-led creations, highlighting the diversity of materials, techniques, and cultural traditions explored.
