The Info

Looking for free things to do in Boston, Lincolnshire this July? Hanse Day 2026's Collages and Banners is a vibrant, family friendly exhibition showcasing newly commissioned artworks at Fydell House, part of the We Are Boston programme.

Created for the 2026 Hanse Day parade, these bold banners were designed by Lincolnshire-based artists in collaboration with local residents. Each piece reflects Boston’s rich history, international connections, and strong community spirit.

The project began with hands-on collage workshops led by illustrator Aga Kowalska, where participants explored colour, texture and storytelling inspired by Boston’s past. These creative designs were then transformed into large-scale textile banners during quilting sessions with Vicki Reid, semi-finalist from BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee (Series 9).

Open to people of all ages and abilities, this project invited local residents to shape the final artworks. Now on display, the banners offer a unique opportunity to experience these collaborative creations up close—each telling its own story of Boston and its Hanseatic links across Europe.
