Derwent Valley Drummers are a dynamic “global street bateria” group based in Derbyshire. Their sound blends Afro‑Brazilian rhythm with diverse influences including reggae, dancehall, hip‑hop, bhangra, kabuki, soca, drum and bass, and even medieval dance music—creating an exciting, high-energy performance experience.

Formed by Chris Lewis-Jones, former co-director of Sambawamba carnival arts company, the group performs at festivals and community events across the UK. They are also a much-loved feature of Transported’s Illuminate Parade and Boston’s Hanse Day celebrations.
This event is part of our We Are Boston programme of immersive arts experiences across the town marking Boston’s historic connections to the USA on the 250th anniversary weekend of American Independence and launching community consultations on cultural plans for 2030 – the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Boston in America by people from Boston, Lincolnshire.
