Create a Giant Lantern Puppet in Boston

Join us at Shodfriars Hall in Boston, Lincolnshire and help bring a brand-new lantern puppet to life. Working alongside artists Nadya Monfrinoli and Lou Jones, you’ll contribute to the creation of a spectacular new mermaid for this year’s Illuminate parade.

Learn Creative Lantern Craft Techniques
This hands-on craft workshop in Boston invites you to explore the art of lantern-making. Using tissue paper and PVA glue, you’ll help shape the design and character of a large-scale puppet while discovering the techniques behind these eye-catching creations.

Work with Experienced Illuminate Artists
Artists Nadya Monfrinoli and Lou Jones have created several stunning large lanterns for previous Illuminate parades. This year’s theme, “Looking Up,” celebrates the fascinating creatures and faces carved into Boston’s historic buildings. Inspired by the town’s many mermaids, this new lantern will add another magical figure to the parade.

A Free Family-Friendly Activity in Boston
Looking for free things to do in Boston, Lincolnshire? This workshop is free to attend, with booking required in advance. It’s family-friendly but best suited to older children, with under 18s needing to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Participants are welcome to attend one or both workshops taking place on the day, including Intro to Puppeteering.
