The Info

Try your hand at machine quilting with Vicki Reid, passionate maker and semi-finalist from BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee (Series 9) to create banners to be processed in this year's International Hanseatic Day parade!

Get involved in creating the artwork for this year’s Hanse Festival! Transported is offering a series of free creative workshops where you can work with professional artists to design and make the artworks that will appear in the 2026 parade.

Whether you’re an experienced maker or trying something for the very first time, these friendly sessions are a brilliant way to learn new skills, meet others and be part of a major community celebration of Boston’s European links and centuries-old Hanseatic history.

Help create textile banners for the Hanse Parade

Try your hand at machine quilting with Vicki Reid, passionate maker and semi-finalist from BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee (Series 9). These workshops will introduce you to scrappy machine quilting techniques, helping you produce fabric sections that Vicki will later assemble into the festival’s large textile banners. The designs of the banners will have been informed by collage workshops with Boston’s residents.

The sessions are relaxed, beginner-friendly and perfect for anyone who wants to be part of a collaborative community project.
