The Info

On Your Doorstep is a compelling photography exhibition by Boston-based photographer Bartosz Fedkowicz, commissioned by Transported as part of the 1000 Faces project.

This exhibition can be found on the first floor in the Reading Room.

This series takes a hyperlocal approach, focusing on residents of Windsor Crescent, a neighbourhood close to the new Mayflower Plaza. Each participant is photographed standing in their own doorway, resulting in simple yet powerful portraits rooted in everyday life.

A Portrait of Community at Street Level
By photographing people on their own doorsteps, Bartosz creates a strong connection between individuals and place. These portraits capture a sense of belonging and identity, linking one street and its residents to the wider story of Boston.

The project reflects Transported’s commitment to working at every scale—from neighbourhood engagement to large-scale public artworks—while celebrating the people who shape the community today.

Part of the 1000 Faces Project
This exhibition forms part of 1000 Faces, an ambitious Transported project creating new public artwork for the regenerated Mayflower Building plaza.
Inspired by the historic carved faces in the choir stalls of St Botolph’s Church, which are thought to represent members of the community over 600 years ago, the project aims to capture a contemporary portrait of Boston. Through photography, drawing, and sculpture, 1,000 local people will be represented.

On Your Doorstep is presented alongside Kaleidoscope, also by Bartosz, and The Bostonians by Steven Hatton, together creating a rich and varied record of the people who live in Boston today.

Whether you’re interested in photography or local stories, or community projects, On Your Doorstep offers a unique and intimate perspective on everyday life in Boston.
